We are proud to announce that Nelton is carrying out the technical design of two closed fish cages for FiiZK AS, ordered by a Norwegian fish farmer.
The new generation PROTECTUS closed fish cages, developed by FiiZK over the past year, feature a perimeter of 156 meters and a volume of approximately 30,000 cubic meters, designed to accommodate up to 1,000,000 post-smolt.
Each cage includes a specially designed floating steel collar providing exceptional strength and durability. A PVC tarpaulin bag forms the main barrier, supported by a protective net to prevent escapes. Seawater is drawn in from 30 meters depth through six intakes to ensure lice-free water. The outflow system collects waste feed and sludge in a dedicated trap, while a comprehensive sensor network monitors water quality both inside and outside the cage.
This innovative concept contributes to more sustainable aquaculture, reducing the time salmon are exposed to open-sea conditions, and supporting environmentally friendly, biologically sound, and cost-efficient production that meets the expectations of customers, regulators, and end consumers alike.
At Nelton, we are proud to be part of this project. The aquaculture sector represents a growing market with great potential for both fish farms and AQUA service vessels — projects we see as having real potential for construction at Polish shipyards.
A sincere thank you to FiiZK and partners for their trust and the opportunity to contribute to this remarkable project.
